Natural Jaggery
MSS Organic Farms is manufacturing Natural Jaggery, sugarcane may be collected from various formers for jaggery production. But in Organic Jaggery, sugarcane are procured or cultivated from the organic certified field. The difference between organic and commercial jaggery making is mainly in clarification process. In natural jaggery making process used little bit of lime to decrease the acidity of juice.
Natural Jaggery - Manufacturing Process
Jaggery making is a simple process comprising crushing of sugarcane for juice extraction, filtration and boiling of juice for concentration and then cooling and solidifying to give jaggery blocks. The juice is extracted in conventional crusher; this is then filtered and boiled in shallow iron pans. During boiling sodium carbonate and lime is added to clean the juice and the extraneous matter is constantly removed to give a bright golden colour. The boiled juice is then left to cool in iron/ Aluminum pots to form the jaggery blocks or powder.
Cutting Sugar Cane from fields
- Fresh sugarcanes are cut from the fields, canes are cut in such a way that the head and tail are chopped off. They are carefully brought in a plastic sack, to the place where they are made juice.
Feeding the grinder to extract juice
- To extract juice from the sugarcane, they use a small power run machine, where at one side four or five canes are fed, and at the other end, extracted sugar cane juice is directly feed to the vessel
Boiling
- Next step involved is boiling the extracted juice, juice is feed to a large big iron vessel. Heating unit of the vessel is set up in such a way that, at a single stretch two vessels are boiled, heating unit is nothing but a small pit above which this vessel is placed, there is a man who keeps on adding fuel to the heating unit from a small opening, fuel to the heating unit is just the extract which is obtained after juice has been taken from the canes, these extract are dried in sunlight and used as a fuel for heating.
Cleaning Impurities
- When juice becomes a semisolid paste, small quantity of lime is added as a reducing agent to clean the impurities.
Cooling & Packing
- After stirring well until the juice becomes a semisolid paste, With the help of a long wood stick, at one end which contains a flat block they stir well again in the tray, until more thickening comes. After cooling, jaggery products will be packed according to the requirement
Storage
- Packed products will be sent to the storage. According to the order, the packed products will be despatched to the customers.

Sucarcane - Boiling
The juice is boiled in the vessel for at least three hours.
Stirring
Stirring with long wooden stick until the liquid juice becomes a semisolid paste.
Poured in to Iron Plate
Semi solid paste jaggery is poured into iron plate
Jaggery Powder
Stir the sugarcane paste well until the paste becomes a powder.
